Managing over 110 cameras via enterprise R68 NVRs, this infrastructure integrates hardware RAID, hot-swappable protection, and LumiSearch speed search, delivering massive network throughput, uninterrupted storage reliability, and rapid, intelligent forensic video retrieval across the site.

The solution eliminated voltage drops and network congestion, lowering construction costs by bypassing intermediate IDF closets. As a high-activity hub, the facility required a security solution that could match its scale, but the physical site presented significant technical barriers. Large-scale logistics environments often push the limits of traditional networking. With mounting heights reaching 45 feet and critical camera placements requiring cable runs of nearly 900 feet, the facility faced the risk of severe voltage drop and signal degradation.

The primary concern for the project was maintaining consistent camera performance over extreme distances without the cost and complexity of intermediate networking closets. Standard PoE infrastructure typically fails beyond 328 feet (100m), but the Tsawwassen facility required runs nearly triple that length.
To solve this, Columbia Security deployed Luminys LumiPower long-distance PoE switches. These switches were specifically engineered to deliver stable power and high-speed data over extended distances, ensuring that even the most remote cameras in the yard remained fully operational under peak load conditions. By utilizing an R68 Enterprise NVR backbone and high-bandwidth aggregation switching, the team ensured that the high-density camera setup—totaling over 110 endpoints—maintained seamless connectivity without network drop-offs.

Backed by the heavy-duty computing power of the dual enterprise R68 NVRs, this advanced AI tool empowers operators to instantly search vast recorded footage by specific attributes like vehicle types or personnel features. By turning hours of manual video scanning into seconds-long target identification, this intelligence drastically accelerates forensic review during cargo discrepancies or yard incidents.
